If you are a member of a book club, know people who are interested in Native American history, have friend who is part Cherokee, ever wondered what it takes to join the tribe, or if you know someone who loves horses or have ever dreamed of going on a trail ride, please recommend “Weep” to them and share the link.

Synopsis: In Cherokee legend it is said that at the beginning of the world people and animals spoke and understood each other's languages. "Weep" is a story about a woman whose life changes after just such an encounter with a carriage horse in Central Park. The full novel is available on Amazon.com in paperback and on Kindle. A free app is available as well for Kindle.

Reviews of “Weep”

Vicki Mooney, the author of WEEP, has created an enchanting tribute to her Cherokee roots. And weep I did as she led me, page by page into the lives of her characters who are so warm and true, so believable that as I read, cried and laughed, I came to feel that I was part of this loving family. The many surprises--unexpected twists and turns in the plot, makes this an engaging page-turner. I loved this book. And you will, too.

I have known Vicki Mooney for almost 30 years and have seen her grow as a person and a writer. We spoke so many times about her desire to find her ancestry in the Cherokee tribe, which has now become a reality. She has always known she was a Native and she can now along with all other tribal members, prove her heritage. "Weep" is a story of the tragic forced walk to Oklahoma known as the "Trail of Tears" and how this family was affected both then and in the present. You can feel the heartache, fear and trepidation that our ancestors felt being pushed to this new land. This is a great story that belongs on your bookshelf beside all of our outstanding Native writers.

An uplifting first novel by Vicki Lynn Mooney about an
urban woman who returns to her birthplace in Oklahoma and follows a trail of
tears and laughter in her quest for love and identity as a member of her
Cherokee family. With her intimate knowledge of the people and the place,
the author takes us into the heart of this unique community. A great debut!

As I read this wonderful book, I was drawn into a world of the Cherokee Tribe and the strong people who made the terrible trip on the Trail of Tears. The story is written by a Cherokee woman about her ancestors who made this trip, some survived, some didn't. The book draws you in as the author goes back in time and brings you up to the future flawlessly. Some of the descriptions of the things that happened 100 years ago are described so realistically, it is hard to believe the author hasn't actually experienced those things. The characters are compelling, interesting, engaging; and the book is intelligently written by a very talented woman. The research on her bloodline is remarkable. A must read. I hope you buy it.
