To the best of my knowledge, the only countries that have recognized ayahuasca use for shamanic (healing) purposes are Peru, where it's recognized as a national cultural treasure, Ecuador, Bolivia, Venezuela, and Colombia. In the USA it is legal for use, technically only in Oregon and New Mexico, but in both places only in the context of religious use, by the Santo Daime church in Oregon and the UDV in New Mexico. Suffice to say that the religious use of Ayahuasca goes back only a short time, while the shamanic use of it goes back well before recorded history.

I am happy that the situation in Chile turned out how it turned out. I hope soon the rest of the world will recognize the value of this amazing healing tradition.
