Howler!!! I went through 6 mos in '11 for lymphoma, and now am maintaining pretty well, green drinks and simple foods. I was studying body and energy work when I started feeling 'off', and then got diagnosed as stage IV last year. You know, nothing is wasted, everything I studied I have had to put into practice on myself. These days I feel my spirit has gotten stronger, even when my body runs out of energy.
I think you would really enjoy CPE-- she's the one that wrote Women Who Run With the Wolves. Do you know about alibris? Here is a link, (there's a used copy for .99cents--I love this site!)

It's bugging me now which CD the trumpet vine story is on--you won't believe how much it applies to your situation--which I hope has been improving!! I have lived in one of those groomed neighborhoods, but luckily it started becoming so diverse that it actually become more free--in yard designs. Of course all of my gardens have ever been wild ones
