Sometimes it helps to verbalize it. It can make it sound like less if you say it out loud. I guess it clarifies the absurdity of it, and makes it easier to laugh at. Laughing at it can sometimes dissolve and dissipate it. Then, finding one positive in the whole situation and verbalizing that can help, too.
