When Illinois passed 'concealed carry' legislation last year, my congregation (American Baptist Convention-- the only 'progressive' Baptist denomination) voted unanimously to ban all firearms from church property, except for sworn law-enforcement personnel, who are required to be armed 24/7/365. 'No Weapons On Church Property' signs are now displayed at every entrance to our church and day-care center.

I never thought I'd live to see the day when we'd have to formally enact such a rule, and it saddens me.
