There is real math involved in this form of Mysticism. The Rabbi sort of dismissed this branch as something only real math nerds would get into. I was amused to see that this lady is relying on a calculator or app that is based on English.

I was amused to see this in the article cited in the OP

After all, according to one gematria calculator, the word “gematria” has the same value as “foolish” — but also “messiah.” And “horse.” It’s totally obvious what that means.
