"Think Yiddish, dress British"

Ran to join a "traditional" country club that banned Jews the minute it voted to allow them. Thought of himself as patrician WASP.

I theorized he was a classic self-hating Jew. Not as much as he wanted to join a new clique. And he had to play by their rules as far as adopting their positions.

Consequently, he came to view me as a threat to his new life, that my being progressive/liberal made me a "Communist" (yes, he shouted that at me on Christmas Day 1987). He was mean and vituperative to my friend who was also a progressive Jew.

If Dad were still around, he'd be a Trump-Humper and would not defend the antisemitic attacks on Jews, which would include himself.
