My father was staunchly pro-NASA and pro-space exploration for as long as I can remember--which means 1968 or perhaps earlier.

My mother's view during this same time--1968 to death--"Why waste money on that crap when there are poor people in this country?"

My father was tacitly but not doctrinairely (R); my mother voted (D) straight ticket from the time she turned 21 back in 1948.

In the "guns or butter" landscape, my father was moderately right of center, my mother was fairly left of center.

It continues to the mixed bag of nuts I call my "work colleagues", teachers. Science teachers? Mostly pro-NASA. Others? Much less consistently so.
