Waht do you think of how "loners" are portrayed in books and other media? [View all]

I was thinking of the literary character of a "loner" and how they are portrayed.
Very common is the " white knight", the " loner hero" type.
Lee Child being the most recent to develop such a character in his many Jack Reacher novels.
( which I have read and liked, in a mental popcorn sort of way)
