The brain is what babbles constantly and seeks stimulation and when it finds it, interprets it as pleasure or pain. The mind regards everything with equanimity, is silent, has neither memory nor aspiration.

The mind is what people who sit quietly, alone in a room, will eventually bump into. And that's what the OP was tapdancing around, it's called meditation.
