heart broken when I went through that. I mourned the loss of what could have been. I came home from the hospital that day and just wanted to watch some mindless TV. It was the day of the Columbine shootings.

Odd how things work out. If that had not happened, I definitely would not have my 12 year old red headed son. Most homes have fire safety plans, we have a zombie apocalypse plan. He thanks me for taking care of him when he is sick. He thinks I bring him the wastebasket for his comfort. Has no clue that I am protecting the floor and furniture. He thinks I give him ice cream for breakfast sometimes because I love him, not because I know he will be the one making me my vodka and cranberry in my old age.
