(53,342 posts)They both need professional help, and neither is likely to have the courage to face that fact so I pray that any women in their lives are able to escape unharmed.
As for the more general guy pining for the good old days that never were, I agree with you. I have said for a long time that the myths are responsible for much of the damage. Men are lagging behind women in confronting those myths for themselves, and there will be little progress made until men change the way they talk to each other. When the misogynist threads come up, every sane man among us should be piling on the offenders and letting them know it is not acceptable among men.
One common misconception is that men are most interested in impressing women. This is simply not true. Men's status generally derives from what other men think of them, and on some level all men know this.
This issue goes way beyond politics.
