I was also a "white collar, office worker" which I suppose they also resented. I wanted to show them that even "paper pushers" can come from blue collar workers. It is not just a sexist attitude, it is also a class problem. That is why I asked Dad to meet me in his HARD HAT. My Dad was one of THEM, and they respected that. It should not be like that, but unfortunately, it is.
