when we(meaning the politicians we supported) started apologizing and making excuses for our pro-choice positions Our politicians felt they had to take "Abortion is icky" stances and reach out and court a voting block that they would never, ever in a million years get. So like so many other things, while "our side" was trying to change the subject and move on to other things, this type of shit was slowly but surely gaining ground because we wanted to change the subject and move on.
