4. Maybe Fey, Peohler, and others did not want a job that meant so much of a time commitment?

The Daily Show seems like it would take a huge chunk of time out of a week - if it was me, I would rather makes a movie every once in a while, or be in a sitcom that filmed so many episodes a season and then done for a while.
I doubt women were excluded, really, there might not have been that many people of either gender who would want to do the show at the same level of political reporting as Jon Stewart did.
