Some of Trump's most fervent supporters have started to criticize a school-shooting survivor [View all]

who has made a flurry of media appearances.

Some of President Donald Trump's most fervent supporters have started going after a survivor of last week's shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida, who has since made a series of appearances on TV-news outlets.

That student, David Hogg, has been featured on CNN and CBS following the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that left 17 people dead and more than a dozen others injured.

Pro-Trump accounts have shared the stories on Twitter and in some cases have thousands of retweets. The conservative One America News Network promoted a tweet suggesting Hogg may be "running cover for his dad who works as an FBI agent at the Miami field office."

The stories gained even more attention when Trump's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., liked that tweet and another post sharing the True Pundit story.

This story is from a few months back, but recent comments on DU agreeing with Trump about David Hogg's motives requires some perspective on the right-wing attacks on Parkland survivors. The hate-filled diatribes against these young victims stems from the frothing mouths of Second Amendment radicals and "cold dead hands" NRA shills.

Then there is the growing fear on the part of the right-wing gun culture that people such as the Parkland survivors are helping to make progress towards meaningful gun control, and the majority of Americans agree with them.
