we have sensible gun laws as well, which hopefully may serve as a model for other states. We have mandatory gun registration (all guns); all gun owners must be licensed; assault pistols are banned; and, handguns are limited to a magazine capacity of no more than 10 rounds. While Hawaii is a "may issue" State, the decision to issue a CCW is left to the County Police Chiefs and very few are ever issued, after showing good cause.

As a result, Hawaii has the lowest gun death rate in the nation (2.8 per 100K).
