It should be noted that even among LARGE cities Chicago’s gun violence isn’t the leader.
While national headlines were dominated by gun violence in Chicago throughout the Independence Day weekend, persistent gun violence has produced a higher rate of homicide in Philadelphia through the first 26 weeks of 2014. http://guncrisis.org/tag/per-capita-homicide-rate/
And New Orleans while not considered a LARGE city, in the last comparison I saw, had a firearm homicide rate more than twice as high as either Chicago or Philly. http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm6018a1.htm?s_cid=mm6018a1_w
