That's the overriding problem with open carry: people who feel compelled to bring those sorts of military/law enforcement-styled firearms into a public place are signaling a very strong desire to use those firearms against people. If they were only interested in personal protection, they would take the training, pay the fee, and conceal carry a single handgun. BIG difference in motivations.
