As I've discussed with flamin lib, there are a good number of additional gun regulations I support, and I actually helped a little with the effort to enact universal background checks here in Oregon. I am indeed a shooter (I compete, actually), but like a good many of the people I know from my sport and who I talk with at the range, I understand the need to take steps to reduce access to weapons by criminals and other unsuitable persons (like, for example, people with restraining orders for domestic violence).

I am most certainly not an advocate of complete removal of civilian (or all) firearms from society, as some have advocated here. I don't get the impression that that's a requirement for participation here, but if I'm mistaken, there's no need to ban me. A simple request not to post here would suffice. I respect the wishes of the regulars here and the group hosts to have the sort of group they prefer.

I was just hoping, after my conversation w/ flamin lib, to see and perhaps participate in some discussion about working compromises between the sides...things that can result in change (rather than absolutist positions on either side that prohibit any progress).
