because they did a straw sale of a gun that later wounded two police officers.

Of course they'll appeal the award based on the PLCAA hoping it will shield them from prosecution. Hope not 'cause this was a classic case of not-give-a-shit about a straw purchaser.

Buyer is 18 and can't own a handgun. Finds a 21 year old buddy. Both go into the store, 18 year old selects a gun and goes out to the parking lot leaving 21 year old to buy gun. Oops, 21 year old is short cash so the clerk escorts him out to the parking lot to get the rest of the money from the 18 year old. Who would have been suspicious?
