4. That was the first film I saw that made me realize that

adults don’t always know what’s going on, and that they don’t always have all the answers. That adults can be afraid and confused and uncertain.

I was amazed (come on, I was nine) that Roy formed such a close relationship with a woman who was not his wife. He and Jillian gave each other the strength to figure out what was going on, and help each other understand the magnitude of what was happening.

The clincher is when the score played “When You Wish Upon A Star” at the end. Telling me that grownups too have dreams and fantasies and desires and emotional needs.

Anyway, eye-opening movie for a kid.
