I started reading and looking things up - and eventually found my way to DU. I always voted, knew who was who, was apparently smart ti be on the right side of things, but Washington Week in Review would put me to sleep. Now, news is just about all I watch! 
And it's just terrific that your boys have such a good relationship. I only have one sibling, my brother - also four years apart, I'm older - and we have never hit it off about anything. I always envied those who had close and supportive relationships with siblings. But we lost our mother unexpectedly six years ago and so I've been making an effort and so is he - in his own way...
