Parasite deserves all the praise it has received IMHO, including the Oscars it ran away with on Sunday night. Love the way the film traverses effortlessly through numerous genres (social comedy, thriller, mystery, horror, tragedy) and plot developments resulting in a perfect landing. As I watched I was reminded of both Hitchcock because of the controlled craft involved, and the films of Jean Renoir. Renoir rarely passed judgment on the characters in his films and tried to impart some humanity in his most problematic characters. Such is the way Bong treats the Kim and Park families in his twisty tale of income inequality and class division. An exercise in great storytelling and an instant classic.
