Which was really Oliver Stone's vision of Morrison, I guess.

They remember Morrison as a shy, polite, incredibly well-read Southern gentleman. They say he could get really obnoxious when he was drunk, and he got drunk a lot. But the film only rarely showed Morrison as they remember him. I guess Stone flipped the two Morrisons, and showed only the drunk, obnoxious side.

There's a scene near the end where Morrison comes over to Ray and Dorothy's house, and Dorothy greets him at the door. Morrison says "Hey! You cut your hair!"

"Ray and I are trying to have another baby."

"Was your hair getting in the way?"

That seems to be more of the sweet, funny guy the others always talked about.

I read reviews of Kimer's performance, and so many of them said "I couldn't wait for that jerk to die!"
