Insisting that Saddam was a national security threat, Biden as the leading Democratic voice in Congress held hearings in October that did not carry a single person who thought that Hussein had WMDs at his disposal despite serious misgivings by diplomats and weapons experts in the region, including former inspector Scott Ritter. No opposition voices, including those in the intelligence community and Pentagon, were allowed to speak at the hearings.
