As the English system works, when you vote for your member of Parliament, you know not just who the Prime Minister will be, but who will be Chancellor (Treasury), Home Secretary, Minister for Defense, etc., if the person you voted to a seat in Parliament proves to part of a majority for your party. A strong shadow cabinet may bolster a weaker party leader (who becomes Prime Minister), or where both elements are well regarded, raise the prospects of every party member seeking a seat in Parliament.

"When things are not called by their right names, what is said cannot make sense. When what is said does not make sense, what is planned cannot succeed. When plans do not succeed, people become uneasy. When people are uneasy, punishments do not fit crimes. When punishments do not fit crimes, people cannot know where to put hand or foot."

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
