awful. This wasn't the case 35 years ago. Warren is right to emphasize solutions to predatory student loan debt.

It all began in the 1980s under Reagan, maybe you know the history. Since 1966, 'Dutch' was governor of CA and hated and wanted to punish CA college students who protested the Vietnam War, 'hippies'! esp. Berkeley. He did so by increasing tuition costs.

In the 1980s college tuition began to increase dramatically in cost. Prior to then, public colleges received about 80% funding from tax revenue and 20% from students. Getting a college degree was affordable for young people, especially if they worked a summer or part time job for additional money.

Since Reagan the ratio has flipped, reversed to 20% cost from tax revenue, 80% from students. Prior to this change attending college never left most students in debt. I know since in my group of 5, all graduated college, 1969-1981, with no loan debt. My grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles attended college, 1915-1950 and had no debt. Advanced societies encourage, not punish! their young generations who are the future of the country.
