Do not have any sort of admission restrictions now anyway (if they ever did).

It does beg the question if it is appropriate to have six state universities in Mississippi for example vs. the three in Iowa (the two states have nearly the same population). Is there a need for both Jackson State and University of Southern Mississippi? Are the two Masters granting schools (MS Un for Women and Miss Valley) necessary?

There are compelling historical reasons to maintain these other universities, but it could be argued that there is some loss in efficiency.
