(7,196 posts)high that the answer is yes although in a roundabout way product does make it to China. For example in the case of commodities like soybeans the Chinese will continue to import what they need but it will be by way of companies from Brazil etc. But those companies will buy supply from the US at a reduced price because of a depressed market.
So it is not US soybeans going to China it is Brazilian for example because of the purchase. There are also "paper swaps" that take place so that the goods don't actually land in Brazil and then get reloaded on a boat to China. Paper changes hands and things get rerouted in transit. The penalty to US farmers for example is that they end up with a payment to them that is lower than what they would have gotten before all of this. The taxpayers may be forced to accept the burden of greatly increased farm support payments as well.
