The Revolutionary War was a "bush fire" war amidst a long series of wars with France. A sideshow for the British, a "Vietnam" as it were. The wars with France ended in a British victory that eventually helped to ignite the French Revolution.
The war of 1812 was predominantly a loss, or at best a draw, for the U.S., since the infamous Battle of New Orleans was fought after it actually ended, and the British/Canadians captured and burned the American capitol.
