7. I just looked up on my carrier how to call an international number from a US mobile phone

Here were their instructions. Check with your carrier to see if the same process applies. IMPORTANT: Dialing the + before the international number is the key, at least with my carrier.

Dial international numbers (Call another country from the U.S.)

1. On your device, open the dialer in your phone app to make a call.

2. Enter the plus sign + (press and hold the 0 key), followed by the country code, and then the phone number.

For example, to call Mexico from the US: Enter the plus sign + > Enter 52 > Enter the two or three-digit area code > Enter the 7 or 8 digit phone number.
