1. Perhaps the opposite of advise, exasperation...

My father always used to give me the same analogy when I seemingly refused to take any effort to get better but would continue to complain about my depression. He said it was like I was in a burning building and everyone was telling me to get out, or jump, and the route out looked obvious to them, but I refused all advise and continued to stay inside calling for help.

When he got angry at me for being a broken record about my depression he would sometimes say it was like I was continually punching people in the face then saying sorry I couldn't help it. Funny cause he suffers from severe depression himself at times.
