6. We actually get a few gulls here in northern Illinois.

We're at least 1000 miles from the nearest seacoast, but some of them manage to find their way here. My theory is that they may follow the St Larewnce Seaway to the Great Lakes and then fan out from there. You can see lots of them around Lake Michigan (the closest one to us) and I assume the other Great Lakes as well.

They can also often be found hanging around some of the smaller lakes that are fairly abundant in these parts. Shameless little beggars they are, too. The creators of Finding Nemo captured them perfectly!
