I liked the book as well but did NOT like the movie...This may have been

one of those books that are just not easy to film, although by the reviews

many liked it. I don't know how many of those also read the book, though.

Here's my complaint:

I found the title character rather likable for at least the first half to 2/3

of the book -- I could relate to her to a certain extent and I frequently found her funny.

She is NOT any of that in the film; There is NO nuance for either of the main characters, actually.

Both leads come off as flat, and in her case, one dimensional, which I thought was

a real loss.

I should mention that I also agree with Deb J on the film's dark, depressing quality.

and it ties into my criticism of Amy's portrayal, because a little humor would have alleviated

that.
